A hearty welcome to Siliguri College of Commerce, the premier institution of North Bengal to impact commerce and management education in this region. This co-educational college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the year of 2004. Now we are going for 2nd Cycle of Accreditation.
This college was established in 1962 just a year after the establishment of the University of North Bengal which it is affiliated. It started its onwards journey with just a handful of students with a mission to enrich the incoming aspirants with commerce education so as to enable them to suit in their desired position in the society.
Siliguri, as we know, has been having the accelerated advancement in all dimensions including that in academia and particularly that in business and commerce. In this respect, the presence of this institution in this growing commercial hub assumes even greater importance than before. In light of this fact, the college has been giving attention to the introduction of some specialised commerce and management courses. The introduction of Honours in Management, BBA are the fruits of this effort. In fact, at present, it is the only college in North Bengal from where one can pursue Honours in Management and BBA courses. We are hopeful to introduce Honours in Finance, C.S. inter and final courses and MBA in near future.
The college has a national linkage with the Indian Commerce Association (New Delhi) and an international linkage with International Agency for ISBN. Students (past and present) may enjoy the benefits with all the teaching faculty alike of this Berlin (Germany) based institution for publication of their works. Moreover, the college is proud of having a fully computerised UGC Network Resource Centre.
Over the years, this institution has made a distinctive mark in academics, games and sports and other co-curricu!ar activities based on the perfect attainment of students in university examinations and events. We always remember those successful students with sincere feelings and would have them remain associated with the college as life members of the Siliguri College of Commerce Alumni Association - a consortium to help Siliguri College of Commerce.
Lastly, we express deep sorrow for not being able, over the years, to accommodate so many aspirants in this college because of some infrastructural problems. We are forced by the circumstances to restrict the intake capacity of the college at a certain level. We hope that in the near future we will solve this problem to meet the need of society.
